Fuzzy regresion analysis gives a fuzzy functional relationship between dependent and independent variables where vagueness is present in some form. The input data may be crisp or fuzzy. This chapter considers two types of fuzzy regression. The first is based on possibilistic concepts and the second upon a least squares by: Analytical skills. Operations research analysts use a wide range of methods, such as forecasting, data mining, and statistical analysis, to examine and interpret data. They must determine the appropriate software packages and understand computer programming languages to design and develop new techniques and -level education: Bachelor's degree.
BASIC Business Analysis and Operations Research discusses how the Beginners All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code (BASIC) can be utilized in business analysis. The book is comprised of seven chapters that tackle various topics about BASIC and business analysis. Chapters 1 and 2 provide an overview of BASIC and Operations Edition: 1. Operations research is concerned with analyzing and providing advice vis-à-vis the maximum (yield, profit) and the minimum (cost, risk, loss) of actual industrial objectives. Operations research includes a wide range of techniques for solving problems and different methods used in the search for a better decision-making process.

Possibility data analysis offers not only the general methodology to analyze and model the uncertainty in operations research but also the common and simple way to solve the problems. It is an integration of model building and model solving.
possibility theory for data analysis in operations research. As a counterpart of multivariate analysis based on probability theory, possibility data analysis plays an indispensable role in finance, economic, society fields and upper levels of decision-making system of industrial engineering.
This book focuses on how to use possibility theory to analyze. Introduction: Possibility Theory in Operations Research -- Ch.
Possibility Models -- Ch. Theory of Possibilistic Systems Based on Exponential Possibility Distributions -- Ch. In marketing and education research it is usual to use Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) methods to fit network of constructs to data collected by surveys. Chapter 7. Possibilistic Data Analysis for Operations Research: Hideo Tanaka: Possibilistic programming approach is one of the most popular methods used to cope with epistemic uncertainty in optimization models. In this paper, several robust fuzzy data envelopment analysis (RFDEA) models are proposed by the use of different fuzzy measures including possibility, necessity and credibility by: 2.
Abstract. Data Analysis and Operations Research are two overlapping sciences as there are, e.g., many data problems in which optimization techniques from Operations Research have to be applied to detect best fitting structures (under suitable constraints) in the underlying by: 2.
History. Operations Research, or the application of scientific methods to management problems, is not a new concept. It has been employed in decision-making for many centuries. In fact, the earliest record of decision-making techniques dates back to ancient Babylonia (around B.C.).

The British/Europeans refer to "operational research", the Americans to "operations research" - but both are often shortened to just "OR" (which is the term we will use).
Another term which is used for this field is "management science" ("MS"). The Americans sometimes combine the terms OR and MS together and say "OR/MS" or "ORMS".File Size: 1MB. The estimated possibilistic linear system can be obtained by solving a linear programming problem.

The economic and social research is often based on assumptions that have little to do with reality, because all scientific knowledge of the Western world is based on the Aristotelian binary logic.
The contents and the boundaries of the OR are not yet fixed. Therefore, to give a formal definition of the term Operations Research is a difficult task. The OR starts when mathematical and quantitative techniques are used to substantiate the decision being taken.

Recently, it has become important to deal with fuzzy data in connection with expert knowledge. Three formulations of possibilistic linear regression analysis are proposed here to deal with fuzzy by:.
